VBAC - Vaginal Birth After Cesarean

The Birthing Center of Buffalo applauds the decision to have a vaginal birth after C-section (VBAC)! Dr. Morrison has extensive experience in attending safe, successful VBACs and is happy to assist you in working toward your birth goals.
Our knowledge and experience has shown us that there are essential components necessary for a successful VBAC. Planning a VBAC with the Birthing Center staff involves the following:

  • Engage a doula. We ask that you engage a doula to assist you and your birth team during labor and delivery. Doulas are non-medical professionals who are trained in labor support. They are absolutely critical to having a successful VBAC.
  • For mothers with one prior C-section: Moms with low risk pregnancies and only one prior low-transverse C-section may be eligible to birth at the Birthing Center.
  • For mothers with multiple prior C-sections: Due to freestanding birth center guidelines, we are unable to accommodate moms with more than one prior C-section. Our staff may be able to attend to you at Oishei Children's Hospital of Buffalo, where our providers have admitting privileges. You may be able to labor at the Birthing Center before transferring to the hospital for birth.
